How To Convince People Like A Top Sales Pro

A popular fast food hamburger chain tells us you can have their burger “your way”. How uplifting and empowering is that! I don’t have to convince someone to do something… they are ready to deliver. Imagine if the whole world operated that way. Unfortunately, that will never happen but if you know how to convince people, you’ll get a little closer to the ideal operating environment.

When it comes to convincing people, there is no magic wand and nothing is guaranteed to work all the time. That said, there are some steps you can follow that will greatly increase your probability of success when attempting to convince someone to see things your way.

1) Disarm

Begin your conversation with a little talk that has nothing to do with what you’re attempting to accomplish. You want to put the person you are trying to convince at ease. Remember, you are trying to convince, not challenge someone to see it your way.

2) Ask Some QuestionsYou need to first understand why the individual believes what they believe. You also need to uncover any benefits they may enjoy by seeing things differently. So, you’ll need to be prepared with some questions that get the individual talking. Your goal is to uncover how the individual will benefit by changing their mind about something. For many, this is a “what’s in it for me” world.

3) Sell The Benefit

Let the individual know how they can enjoy the benefit you’ve uncovered. Let them know they can get that benefit by seeing things your way. Don’t convince the individual to see things your way. Instead, convince the individual to get the benefits they’ll gain by seeing things your way.

4) Handel Objection

Most likely, the person you’re attempting to convince will have some questions or objections. Get all the objections surfaced before you answer a single objection. Keep asking if they have anything else on their mind. Once all objections are out in the open, address each one. Don’t enter into a debate. Instead, act like a consultant answering questions.

5) Ask For A Commitment

Once you’ve answered all the objections, you must ask for a commitment. There should be no room for guesswork. You must be absolutely certain that you’ve convinced the individual to see things your way.

Salespeople are masters at the process I’ve outlines above. In fact, the process is called “The Sales Process”. This is the process salespeople use to convince people to purchase their products.

In the final analysis, convincing is selling. If you want the power to convince people to see things your way, get a sales training DVD that covers the entire Sales Process.
