Androgenic Alopecia is the name for male and female pattern baldness. The proof of this can be seen in people everywhere. Those with alopecia range from young adults who prefer to shave their heads to middle age men who are wearing hats to hide their receding hairlines. And the much older man sitting happily, drinking coffee or reading newspapers, unmindful of his hairless state.
So what’s the big deal with being bald anyway? For men, it may signify that they are growing old and they are in denial. It could mean loss of virility or status symbol or the feeling of being less attractiveness to the opposite sex. For women, it’s a big deal, as many consider their hair as their crowning glory, something akin to a great achievement. They have been known for taking great pride in how their hair shines and feel and would often treat themselves to hair spas and other fashionable hair treatments.
Many though have accepted the fact that they will eventually grow old and they did lose their hair gracefully, without much fuss and complaints. But there are a few who went on to exhaust their resources to find ways to replace the hair they’re losing. They opt to have hair transplants, which works for them. Still there are others who prefer to wear a wig to retain their youthful look. And others who use hair products that promote hair growth.
However, it is known that Androgenic Alopecia or hair loss or pattern baldness can be blamed to the genetic make up of the individual. It is hereditary; that’s why people who have parents and grandparents who became bald in their old age also eventually became bald themselves.
