Forget about the way your mother managed to get a hold of your father way back when. Things have sure changed since then. Women are no longer required to be great cooks and keen housewives in order to get the attention of a man.

Men today want a woman who is independent and who can take care of herself, even if there is a part of him that will enjoy taking care of her. The difference is that he wants to take care of her, not have to take care of her.

Show him all your strengths with every date you go out on. You want him to know that you are smart and strong and capable. But be careful not to turn it into a competition. Remember, you want to embark on this relationship together, not go head to head.

You don’t have to force it or fake your way through it. Just be yourself (your best self), have fun and try not to expect too much too soon. The more you play it cool as you show him the great woman you are, the more he’ll fall in love with you.
